WHAT IS NEUROPLASTICITY?
Neuroplasticity is the brain’s natural ability to change, adapt, and reorganize. It allows the brain to develop new neural connections and strengthen existing ones due to experience, learning, environment, or injury.
Think of your brain like a vast network of roads. After a “roadblock” (e.g., a stroke or traumatic brain injury), traffic can’t get through the usual route. But with time and the proper support, your brain can build a new detour—a different pathway to get that message across to eventually reach the same end goal (e.g., moving your affected arm or leg after a stroke).
This is how neuroplasticity works in the brain.
